Rustic and Wild

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Feb 10, 2017 · Modified: Dec 23, 2019

Rustic and Wild

I really don’t know what to call this hodge podge of a mantel! The first thing that popped in my head was rustic and wild.

The other day when I was making my rustic gather here sign with napkins and mod podge, I did mention that I would probably use it for the mantel. I think I can carry the sign right into Spring and Summer. I also mentioned that day that I had no intentions of doing much Valentine’s decorations. Well, I changed my mind and literally dragged out the bin and threw a mantel together real quick. For JACK of course:) Now watch him not even notice HA!

Mod podge napkin sign

I used a wild flower swag, some Valentine vintage post cards, and a little splash of red here and there.

How to make your own rustic sign with napkins, mod podge and stencils

The pretty pink mesh wreath that I made a few years ago. Looks definitely a little wild and beat up. It was smashed inside my closet. Y’all, I really need to start calling in the hoarders to haul out some of this stuff. I am busting at the seams with crafts, wreaths, and diy pillows.

Yes, that wreath is in really bad shape now that I take a good look at it. I guess it adds to wild theme.

The things we do for LOVE!!~

This just might be the last year of the Valentine mantel in our home. Sad, but I like I said I have always enjoyed doing it more for the family then even for myself.

See Lucy over there lounging on the couch? Ahhh..the pugs life.

You can check out my Valentine gallery while you are here:)

Been 5 days since the Super Bowl and I’m still hearing in my head morning till night Lady Gaga songs! People look at me strangely as I bounce around to the beat as I push my grocery cart through the store!!!
Happy Valentine ….. Power of Love, Celine Dion my choice for heart day song.

    Debbie,
I hadn’t thought of painting a grapevine wreath (my mind sometimes freezes up!) but the pink is just delightful. Is that mesh actually screen – as in window screen? What an ingenious idea! I will have to paint that extra grapevine wreath a pretty color for Easter and get on with spring and summer!

No Barbara it is that deco mesh that you buy in the hobby shops. I know Walmart even sells it:)

I like the gather sign but I think I’d like the word ‘gather’ if it was done in black. I like the blue but perhaps black stand out more. Anyway, it looks great!

I’ve gotta say, I love those wooden doors over your fireplace. Those add a lot of character to the area.

    Blessings,
    Elizabeth

LOL! That’s funny because I have mentioned it to people before and they look at me strange. I said I constantly have a song in my head:) can’t help it.

I like your little splash of red for Valentines Day; I think Jack will notice!! If not, maybe you’ll need to stir up a batch of Vday cookies. I’ve always really liked your fireplace/mantle wall; every season it comes to life in a different way and always looks lovely.

Your “Rustic and Wild” header really had me curious! Your mantel did not disappoint! And, those high ceilings are fabulous!
