Rustic and Warm Christmas decorating in the family room

Rustic and Warm Christmas decorating in the family room

Hi there again! So happy you came back to see the family room dressed up for the season. Even though I did not do as much as I typically do, it still seems like a lot to me.

Today I am sharing our rustic and warm Christmas decorating in the family room. I asked my younger son who is 16 if he minded that I only did a few little rustic trees. He said “No Mom, it still looks nice”.  I think my boys are over the over indulgence themselves. I have no doubt they are both going to be minimalists in their own homes some day haha!~

Three little rustic woodland trees is all I have for this year. You can see last years flocked tree HERE.

I decorated each tree with a few ornaments, of owls, and my DIY rustic farmhouse ornaments I made a few weeks ago. I love those little ornaments. So easy!

Some of the decor I can leave up for simple Winter decorating. After Christmas when we are all so anxious to clean up and organize it is nice to have a touch of winter decor. I try to keep that in mind when decorating for Christmas.

That about wraps it up for the family room! Last room will be the kitchen. Thanks so much for stopping over for a visit today. I appreciate it.  Also, if you want to see more of me, you can find me over at Home Pressure Cooking. I am still loving my Instant Pot! I have created a cool line of accessories and gadgets to go with it.

    Debbie,

Love the simplicity, neutral colors with a touch of red. Looks very sophisticated!! Love the 3 little trees vs the traditional big one. Great job….so much less to pack away, too.

    Take care…

I agree Angie. Thank you. Now that the kids are older it is nice to get a little less work and still feel the sense of Christmas around the house.

Your family room decor is just perfect. I no longer decorate a big Christmas tree and I especially like your small rustic trees. Each year I find that I am using less and less Christmas decor. Bravo for simplicity!

Debbie, I think you family room looks completely decorated. Meaning, it doesn’t need any more. We have had several years when our sons were young when all we could afford, or have room for, was a very small tree, and that was a hand-me-down plastic tree. My mother had given me a dozen old plastic ornaments, we bought a plastic star with one light in it, and the boys and I made handmade garland and other decorations. Every gift we were given was rewrapped to go under the tree, or at least the empty box was. And someone gave us a gift with jingle bells on it! Those bells went on the tree, one by one. Eventually, we had a big decorated tree, with lots of presents, and other decorations throughout the house. But I lovingly remember the bare years.
Thank you for another roomful of ideas. I can’t wait to see your kitchen.

Jewell, those are indeed precious memories. When Mike and I were first married we had very little as well. An old apartment with horrible tenants all around us. Some of my fondest memories were in that hole of an apartment complex. The older you get you realize less is more. We are blessed now with things and I want to get rid of them. Go figure! xo

Loving your family room so very much! I’m trying to do less than usual this year, said absolutely NO garland. My husband wanted the garland! MEN! I won, and I think he’s okay without it. It all gets to be so much work that a person can’t enjoy it!

Merry Christmas Debbie to you and your Family,

I saw the pic of you and your Mom; very nice! Two very pretty ladies I must say!

This year I have only two trees (the rustic woody ones, like yours). They are so easy to decorate; not heavy and don’t take up much room. Plus……easy to dismantle. Guess I’m getting old…….HA HA I AM OLD.

My daughter surprised me with an Insta Pot for my birthday!! I was SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!! Lovin it!!
