Dollar Tree Christmas wood cutout makeover

Dollar Tree Christmas wood cutout makeover

I’m really loving these days how Dollar Tree has stocked up some really great seasonal decor. Of course, it is all ordinary. That is where the fun comes in to think outside the box and get your creative juices flowing.

Today I am sharing my Christmas wood cutout makeover using craft paint, fabric and Mod Podge.

I bought three of these cut outs. The ornament, a gingerbread man, an a snowflake. I will make each one a little different. These will be for our Condo considering our decor and style is totally different here. Rustic just won’t work.

For this project you will need a bottle of craft paint, Mod Podge, sponge brushes and fabric. I bought a pack of mini square fabric swatches. So many cute varieties and I can see myself using most all of them for future little projects.

I only painted half the board. Not even half as you can see.

I then laid out my fabric swatches the way I thought I would like them. I mixed up pattern and colors. Sort of like a patch work quilt would be.

I used a paper plate to pour some Mod Podge on, and then used my sponge craft brush to paint the back of the fabric. You want to use a thin fabric for this project. You can also use some cute Christmas napkins. I think that will be my next one.

It dries withing a few hours! I will hang this perhaps on a door, wall, or maybe even from the ceiling? I have not decided yet.

These are really cute. I think I’ll stock up on what’s needed and make them with my grand daughters when they are here for Thanksgiving. They can take them home and put them on their trees! Thanks for yet another great idea!

This is so cute! I actually like the idea of hanging them from the ceiling. A bunch of these would be beautiful hanging from a hallway ceiling.
