Showcase of Kitchen home tours 2013

24 Kitchen tours all about the details, every size, shape and color

When asked to participate I could not say yes fast enough.

After all, our kitchen is truly the heart of our home.

And NOT because I like to cook.

I like the windows most of all, and seeing nature, deer birds, squirrels, you get the gist.

Our home was an existing new built in an already older established neighborhood. So we had no choices, just what was existing.  We happened to love it all.

Country French kitchen tour

Our style is definitely eclectic, however, in the kitchen, I would say it is Country Rustic French style.

Cabinets are Hickory and you will never see a paint brush taken to them.

My husband loves his wood!:)

kitchen pictures

The few things we have changed

are lighting

Farmhouse rustic light

the lighting was purchased at Lowes hardware and it was quite reasonable.

the burlap curtains are made from coffee bags, FREE, and no sew.

Who can beat that?!

Edison light bulbs

My husband and I really love ambient lighting and all our lights are on dimmers.

These bulbs are edison bulbs and they give that vintage vibe we so love.

New hardware from World Market

Something we did recently was change out all the hardware on the kitchen cabinets and drawers.

We scored these pretties at World Market for a steal.

I believe $1.50 a knob.

I really love little details, and I think they make a difference.

Painted pie safe with Annie Sloan chalk paint

When I painted my pie safe painted with Annie sloan chalk paint that was in much need of an update

I even changed the knobs on that as well.

Rustic Spanish hardware from World Market

As you can see I love color.

I would say my color scheme in the kitchen is Yellow {Butter} paint color is by restoration hardware ,

red, blue and green accents throughout.

Is that too much?

Probably, but like I said, we love color.

Vintage inspired counter stools

If we can’t find something vintage and old, or thrifted and gifted

we do our best to replicate that.

We found these vintage replica stools on line and just love them

Rustic decor kitchen

They add that vintage, rustic, Country flair we were looking for.

blue pottery

We have collections and things that were given to us by family all over the place.

In fact, my father in law had to even make us shelves to display some of the stuff.

Country French decor

I also like to craft a lot as you know, and make a lot of the little accessories and decor.

kitchen window

Because I like to change it up, it does not cost me a fortune to do so.

Kitchen stove area

I love this platter my husband got me for Mother’s day.

cheese platter for counter

It sits on the Island and is wonderful for entertaining and putting out cheese, crackers and fruit.

Vintage water bottle

Scattered about our country kitchen you will always see something I crafted up.

These diy utensil holders have been used all summer long.

I will probably change my coffee bean art as well into something fallish, or just add some leaves to it.

upcycled pallet

Pretty soon I will be changing up the decor and Fall will be scattered about everywhere.

I love changing up my free upcycled pallet.

And low and behold I found another free pallet the other day and make another shelf for the opposite side.

Pallet with burlap and chicken wire

pallet diy shelf

Definitely thinking ahead to the Fall season soon.

Vintage side table

This corner will get a revamp for Fall as well.

I love this piece my father in law gave us last year.

It is all chippy and old. It sat in his basement for years unused.

Every drawer is filled up now with junk.

Little burlap wreath hand made by Ann from On sutton place.

Ballard burlap curtains in the kitchen

We also loved stained glass and when we can find it for a bargain, we get it.

This piece above the window just fits perfectly.

And here is my diy burlap wreath since I have hung it

Rag burlap wreath in window

And since I drafted this post, I now have a picture of the last three projects I have done and shared and how they all came together.

I don’t have any facts. I don’t think it is that old. I remember my grandparents having one in their fridge in the 70’s. I found this at a local thrift store.

Debbie…your kitchen is one of my very favorites in all of blogland and yes, I think one of the best parts is all that dappled sunlight and views of the trees through your windows. Every nook and cranny is filled with cute pieces that you’ve found or made, and it all blends and flows seamlessly. You really have been an inspiration to all of us!

Debbie, your pretty kitchen reflects your joyful personality. You can see that you’ve put your heart into making this house a real home. Love all the windows and the room full of light. Our sun porch is the single room in our home that floods with light. I think it’s why we spend most of our time in that space. Thanks for the tour. ~ Sarah
