By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Nov 17, 2013 · Modified: Feb 4, 2025

Hi there everyone! Here I go again on a sharpie kick.

All things Christmas sharpie gift ideas

I really enjoy Sharpie crafts. They are simple and very unique!

They make for a great gift idea as well.

Tis the season.  Today I am sharing Christmas sharpie plates, and of course one of my own creations.

These are all Christmas inspired of course

I love the Christmas ornaments in red sharpie

Love this simple Classic Christmas sharpie plate

Now onto mine

Start off with a simple white plate from the Dollar tree will do.

I have these small stencil letter and numbers I purchased from Walmart in the craft section.

I also purchased a Christmas stencil last year from the dollar tree. It came in a multi-pack with all sorts of Christmas stuff, snowflakes, trees, presents, ornaments, stockings and more.

Great for a dollar.

I simply placed the stencil on the plate, traced and shaded in.

I then just wrote {stenciled} random Christmas words…

cute right!
Baked at 350 degrees for 30 minutes to make this permanent.

I can use it for cookies, treats, candies or whatever display I would like. These are only used for decoration only!

I think I need to add in Fa la la laa!

Thanks for stopping by today.

I am a crafting Christmas fool!

Follow me along if you like!

XO

When using a standard sharpie, please note they are NOT dishwasher safe. They do make some permanent sharpies as well.

Take a gander at my Christmas archives while you are here. I’m sure you will find a lot of budget friendly fun ideas!

Debbie, I love the plate you made. Thanks for featuring mine. I just put them up again this year and was thinking I should make more to give away.

Debbie, this is so cute and so easy too. How cool would this be to make personalized Christmas plate for a neighbor and give them baked goodies on it too! Love it!

I’m finding that mine still wash off a little. Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this?

Not sure, I am using mine for decorative purposes only, no food, or liquid. The plate looks cute displayed with some ornaments. Sorry:(

If you use OIL based sharpies they will last longer and are good safe. Regular sharpies will still wash off, even after baking. All these ideas are beautiful.

Thank you for that tidbit. I usually just use my sharpie ideas for decor only but this is good to know.

Just an FYI for you (I don’t think anyone mentioned it), you can NOT put these in the dishwasher. I made a really cute plate for Santa’s cookies and Christmas Day when it was empty, my husband stuck it in the dishwasher and I didn’t know it. 🙁

Love the sharpie plates BUT check out instructions before making them!!! I used mine with hot food on them & the colour started coming off, why didn’t I learn then!! Put them in the dishwasher and this morning most of the pen markings have come off ? Fortunately I still have 6 left, so won’t make that mistake again ? Oh and they are oil based that I used, so still need to be careful and maybe just use them for decoration. Love the idea of putting Christmas goodies on them and giving them as a gift ??

I only use mine for decoration. I do believe they make a sharpie that is suppose to be resistant to all of the above.
