Tween room B & A party LINK UP!

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Jul 19, 2010

Hi Everyone, we are still on vacation and having a blast.  Heading out to Miami today! Tomorrow the kids are going with their Grandparents over night and Mike and I will have one day to ourselves, in fact we are staying an extra day just so we can do that! My Parties will be going on this week, and the first one coming up is Wednesday, so get your party hats on!!~ Here is my mine for the week. I will be catching up when I get home later on in the week, I sure miss visiting you all and seeing what you are up to! Mr. Linky will go up Monday night.
When Alex left for camp his room was a disaster.  He is just about 13 years old now, and most of the time a royal slob.  Anyone else have this problem? Or had that problem? He truly does not care. Well anyhow, while he was gone his room was cleaned from head to toe.  You see the little red M? Well that M is what caused all my garage troubles…read here if you missed it. At this age I really do not know what more I could do to his room.  I like to keep it light hearted personal to him along with a few inspiration words here and there.  The picture over his bed I adore, and it really describes my son as is.  I bought that at Garden Ridge last year.  Here is a tour of a tween room.
hr
Alex had a great time in camp.  Such a good time that he can’t wait to go back next year. Jack wants to go too…..can you imagine both my boys gone for a week…Mike and I can actually take a little get away ourselves….it was great experience!! This is what his room usually looks like……..

Here are a few of his special things…….

I love this picture shadow box…this is Alex on his second birthday, I remember it well…he sure loved to eat that kid….he still does! That was his only complaint regarding camp, not enough FOOD!

I love this inspirational wall art….I bought it at Marshalls last year for $3.00….I will have a close up at the end for you to read.

This wall art was my inspiration for his room transition last year when I bought his new bedding.  Which is all from Belk, Ralph Lauren, and it was all marked down….all the bedding, and the pillows included was under $100.00. Sales, Sales and markdowns.

Trouble Maker M………no more red for me….I told you it really is NOT my color….it is so firey!

These stars are from Lowes hardware they where for outdoors, I bought them for 10.00 a piece.

I added the red pillow on his bed, bought at Walmart for 6.00.

He actually smiled for me….just because:) Have a great day everyone…and thanks for stopping by to see me.
Thank you for participating in my B & A party. Because I am still on  vacation, I will be making my rounds to come visit shortly when I come home.  Have fun, and remember to link back to me so that others know about the party. I am also joining a few other parties this week.  Thanks so much for hosting.http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5tOA2F7YKT4/TC_-UcBTgYI/AAAAAAAADXw/QKDYpBw6Gwc/S250/hump.jpg

His room looks great! I love the bedding and all of his personal touches.

I have a 16 year old slob, um son, at home. His older brother was the same but now complains about his roommates at college being pigs! I find that hilarious 🙂

I love the red! It’s my favorite! Thanks for the ideas. Every year when my son leaves for camp I go into his room and do a total deep cleaning, and rearrange everything. This year I have plans to paint and change a few things. I love getting ideas. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

We have gone through that stage as well. Right now my 15 year old is still in the hunting/camo room. He is a slob! Both could care less if they ever dust. It is time to clean both of the rooms ceiling to floor!

I think his room looks wonderful for the age he is at and his taste will change in the next few years for sure!

Enjoy that day to yourselves! Us married folk need some time to ourselves!

What a beautiful smile..and do I have that problem? Try triple the problem girl!! My youngest, the girl is the same age as your son…the boys are 17 and 21…When they were little, they kept their rooms so neat and clean…SIGH..Now I shut the door to their rooms…A couple times throughout the year, like you, I will go in their room and do a beautiful job cleaning their rooms but I’m learning to let go right now…It’s hard,,,,I do hope they won’t be pigs when they have their own place,,lol

What a neat boy’s room. I like the wall art the best. The bedding is very cool, too. You did a great job with it!

I miss you, it seems as if you have been gone for a month! Your son’s room is great! My son use to like his room all cleaned up, but not enough to keep it that way! He can never get rid of the red M , the story behind it is to special. Have fun, we’ll be here when you get back!

Hi Debbie, Wow his room is actually cleaner than a lot of other boys rooms I have seen. You did a great job cleaning it up and his room is perfect for his age. Have a great time on your day alone with Mike!

His room doesn’t look that awful in the “slob picture” just an unmade bed and not knowing what to do with all those extra pillows!
Honestly, as much as it will kill me to let go of the control when my kiddos reach that stage – I really suggest just closing the door. Cleaning should be a chore he does, but if it is only haphazardly done I say just let it go … its not worth the fight (unless you have company coming over)!

It’s a great room Debbie! I love the red M. It has a memorable story behind it :/
I have to go in and pick up my girls rooms too. You should see how my oldest makes her bed – yesterday the cover was on, but the top sheet & blanket were waded up on the floor! WTH? I guess you either are a messy or a cleany deep down. Glad you are having a great vacation.

I think his room is not too messy. My grown (18yrs) daughters room is offically a “swamp” and I will not enter it! Love the magic print.

Aww! Isn’t he cute! You’ve done a great job with his room and I love the recipe. I think tween is such a tough age! Maddie changes her mind about how to decorate her room on weekly basis! Don’t you find it so much harder to keep the house and their rooms clean in the summer. They’ll clean them in the morning and by 12 noon the lego’s are back out all over the floor! Don’t know the answer, if you figure it out you’ll need to share 🙂
    Glad you’re having fun!!

Your sons are so not slobs compared to mine! LOL! My youngest used to be such a stickler for order but unfortunately quickly outgrew it! I have learned patience as they will soon be out and on their own. It is funny to hear them complain of a roomates cleaning habits though! Glad your vacation is turning out well!

I think the majority of all kids are just plain messy! I know I was, but I still thought my room looked clean. LOL The room looks fantabulous all cleaned up. Showroom perfect for a little while, huh? Hope you’re enjoying your time away.

Your son is as sweet as mine. Benjamin now is twenty and I reassure you it perhaps becomes much worser but with twenty they are more proper than oneself. 😉

I have 19 year-old slob, uh, daughter at home (like Anita said)–she seriously doesn’t care where stuff falls. My 16 year-old daughter hates messes and keeps her room very neat–go figure!
Your son’s room is wonderful! I don’t have a son in my house, so I wouldn’t begin to know how to decorate a guy’s room!
I love red, you know, so I love the red M!
