Transitioning the mantel to Winter

Hi there everyone! Hope you had a fabulous Christmas spent with your family and friends.  We really had a nice relaxing time and just spent the day in our Pj’s eating and watching netflix.  Can it get any more perfect than that?!

Our boys are so grown up now:( It was quite difficult to even get this snap of those two rascals.  But I did!

I know y’all are going to think I am crazy but today I already took down our Christmas tree.  Considering it has been up since the second week in November, it was time to clean up.  But you know how after you take everything down the house looks blah and boring.

So, today I am sharing transitioning the mantel to Winter ideas.

I love to decorate for Valentine’s day too.  But it is too early for that.  I figured I still have a few weeks before I get out my Valentine bins.

Make your own rustic sign for Valentine's day and or Winter decor

I have a bunch of wood left over from a recent project my husband just did for me.  I will be sharing that soon.  We had to buy some plywood sheets from Lowe’s home improvement for said project.  We had a bunch left over and I told my husband to hold onto it because I can make some cute rustic signs throughout the season.  The wood is really cheap too at the hardware store.  You can buy a big sheet for around $5.99. I believe you can even have it cut to the size you desire.  We have the saws so we just did it ourselves. Or I should say my husband did.  I have not ventured into power tools quite yet.

Used black craft paint with a dabber to stencil on the wood.

And have me a lovely Love sign for the winter mantel, and then I can simply transition into Valentine’s decor.

I like your transition into Winter mantle. I won’t start taking Christmas away until after January 6th. My “Bucky” will stay above the mantle until Spring.

Beautiful transition Debbie!! Really like your ‘Love’ sign. Aren’t those wood scraps fun? I like to take old pieces that I find and paint em up! Any- thing works in todays ‘primative’ decor. I painted some pinecones this year too; they work for a year-round touch too. Nature has the neatest things for us to work with. Happy wintering to you. Carol

Im changing over to just winter too Debbie, but glad to get the Christmas things down. I don’t have any Valentine so I will have to stick with winter things. Hope your Christmas was terrific 🙂

We put our tree up the third week of December so it is still up. We have company over today at 2, dinner guests on Wednesday night and we are hosting a small wedding here on Saturday. I always leave everything up until after January 6th. The trick in our house is to find all the Christmas things because usually the first week in February I find something I forgot to put away. This year I am going to really wrap things up in case we do get to move south. Have to get some bubble wrap. Glad your Christmas was wonderful.

    I love your LOVE sign.

I didn’t get my Christmas decor up until the first of December so, the tree will be up for another week, but I will start taking down the other stuff soon. I need another pajama day before I get to work though. 🙂

I can’t believe how much your boys have grown! They are very handsome young men and I know that you are a proud Mom!

Glad you had a Merry Christmas together. Wishing you a Happy New Year!
