Summer sweet kitchen tour

Hi there! I am calling this my summer sweet kitchen tour.  You know why? Because I found some sweet and pretty kitchen valances…FINALLY!I have had the free burlap kitchen valances up for years now.  Just waiting to find the right valances to replace them took about 3 years. We recently had our kitchen area painted to a lighter brighter shade of Navajo white by Benjamin Moore.  I also had to take down those vinyl bird stencils I had above the windows.  I swear, sometimes I shake my head and ask  myself “what the heck was I thinking”?  I seem to do that often, even with haircuts and outfits I have worn in the past.  I think whatever I feel like for the day is what I do. But then I look back and realize I must not have been feeling too well HA!

summer kitchen decorating ideas  My little window basket herb garden is doing very well. I took it outside for the moment to water.  I have pinched a few herbs here and there in the past week.  This is what the window area looked like back a month or so ago. Spring kitchen decor.

Amazing what a a little paint and new valances can do to perk it up.    Heading in the eat in kitchen area.

debbiedoos's kitchenThere have been quite a few projects and changes around here lately.  Like this new light from Restoration hardware.  I was fortunate enough to sell my other one.  I got a great price for it too considering I had it up for 9 years. Between the selling of the old one, and Restoration hardware actually taking a few bucks off for some problems Mike had along the way installing it.  The new fixture  wound up costing us about $200.00 total.  If you look it up, you will see it is quite expensive and probably one of those splurges we will not make again for a very long time.

Not to mention, my husband is totally over projects this past month.  He works a full time job of course, and then comes home and I ask him to help me with things.  He is just dead tired and I promised it won’t be a while until I ask him again.

Remember he just did the new tobacco barn pantry door for me a few weeks ago as well.

Roosters and sunflowers remain the same.  So sweet, one of my readers recently told me she now collects roosters too! I said collector beware, you will have a flock of them soon. You can check out my Archive of Rooster ideas.

Back in the winter I did find some new counter stools as well.

I really wanted something with a back to them.  I actually sit at the counter now with my laptop and get a lot of work accomplished down here instead of being by myself upstairs.  I get to mix and mingle with the family more.  Not they they really pay no mind to me much anyhow.  Between the three of them they always have on a show of interest and dare I say a word to interrupt or they miss the next great place to eat on the food network.

easy summer decorating ideas

That concludes…. for now my Summer sweet kitchen tour.  At least the part that is tidy and clean.

Thanks for stopping over today. If you are not a regular here, I would LOVE to see you back again, where I share all things Heart, home, recipes, budget friendly crafts and more.

Lookin’ good Debbie – the valances are perfect! I hear ya on the “what was I thinking?” But that’s because we are the type who likes change! (Although I do seriously question my mental state when I chose mauve wallpaper with a cat border for my kitchen back in the early 90’s – I guess it went so well with the blue gingham Formica counter tops I also had installed, lol! I often wonder if those counters are still there – or has the evidence of my bad decor choices been removed!!) Anyway, love your kitchen changes! Jane

I love seeing your kitchen, Debbie! Especially your table area. It just looks so welcoming and inviting, as if I’ve arrived for a cup of coffee and some girl talk! : ) Love your new valances. The new Country Curtains catalog came yesterday and I couldn’t resist a flip through it before I put it in the recycling. Anything fabric catches my eye {pillows, curtains, bedding} and I certainly don’t need any more of any of them!
