Paris cafe print no sew pillow

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Jun 15, 2015 · Modified: Nov 6, 2015

Hi there everyone! While shopping at the Walmart the other day I was super excited to see they now carry fabric.  Our Walmart since opening has not carried fabric and I was always bummed out about that.  I used to buy fabric in Florida all the time at Walmart and I missed that option here.

Not sure if I told y’all but next Spring break we are going to France with the High School marching band.  They were invited to play some solemn music in Normandy.  It is such an honor and France has been on my bucket list all my life.  A few years back our Marching band was invited to Ireland to March in the Dublin parade.  Our marching band has so many amazing opportunities and I am delighted our younger son has chose to be a part of it.  He was reluctant because he is more of our Sports kid.  However, he can play a mean Trombone and he would actually be foolish not to tap into his talent and gift for playing.  He took our advice and is going to give it a try for at least his Freshman year. His big bro was part of the band all through High School and absolutely loved it. They are different though, so we shall see.

Now onto my cute Paris cafe print no sew pillow project.  When I saw this fabric I could not resist.  Isn’t it darling?

 Now y’all already know I don’t sew.

I have shared many NO-sew pillow projects here.  I have no intentions of learning anytime soon to sew.

Why bother at this point when I can hot glue, use peel n stick, stitch witchery and all the other no-sew methods and have the project turn out just as cute.

how to make a no sew pillowThis project cost be around $10.00.  I even found the pillow insert at Walmart.  The peel n stick is in the sewing section.

making a no sew pillowI bought one yard of fabric for $3.97.  I cut it to size the pillow and left about an inch over.  I then turned my fabric inside out, and stuffed my pillow insert in gently.  no sew pillow tutorial

tieing a pillow with twineInstead of using the peel and stick on the bottom I used twine to close the pillow.  I simply snipped tiny holes the bottom and looped it through on both side to tie a bow.

French style no sew pillowIt gave the pillow some texture as well, plus I think it looks cute and fun!

Super cute, Debbie! That fabric is adorable and I especially like the little pop of purple. How exciting for your son – our h.s. band usually goes to NY or FL, but how fabulous would it be to travel to France? Lucky you, going along!! Jane

I enjoy reading your blog and have adapted many of your ideas, so thanks! But now, I hate to be a B, but about 30 years ago I married an officer in the Spelling Police. He has since been promoted to General in charge of Spelling AND Grammar and some of his fastidiousness has rubbed off on me. Since you seem to have a very widely read blog I kind of hoped you’d take it kindly, like someone telling you you have spinach in your teeth. OK It’s “I “used” to buy fabric” not “use” to and you gave your son ADVICE, not advise. smiley face emoticon ( I don’t know how to do that here)

Love the fabric. Can’t believe you found it at Walmart. I’ll definetly have to check ours again. My Walmart where I live has always carried fabric. Usually if I want unique fabric I go to Jo-Ann.

I agree! I don’t think I would make fancy drapes or anything with the Walmart fabric. But for a cute little pillow or even place mats, this will be great for me!

I LOVE this pillow idea. The fabric is adorable, but my mind is travelling to another type of fabric. . . This is yet another economical and versatile project, Debbie. All of us non-sewers of the world can change it up any way we want to! And who doesn’t love a little twine? Thanks again so much for being a constant source of inspiration!

Oh I just love the print and the pillow you made from it! I do not have a sewing machine so I appreciate how easy this is. How exciting that you are going to Normandy too!

It is so reasonable! We don’t have a huge selection, but enough I can have fun and play around with.

Your pillow turned out so cute. I love that fabric and really wish our Walmart sold fabric. What a wonderful trip for your son’s band to take. They must be very good. I seem to remember you went on the Ireland trip. Will you go on this one, too? (Well, duh. Of course you will.)

Hi Debbie, I enjoy your blog. Such pretty fabric. I’ll have to look for it at our Walmart here in Kearny, NJ. The fabric would make pretty curtains as well. I’m not much of a sewer either but I bet you can come up with a way to make curtains with out sewing them. Best wishes for your son going to high school and going to Paris with his school. What a wonderful opportunity. Also best wishes to your other son who is going to college this fall.
