Mud Room

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Apr 13, 2010 · Modified: Feb 2, 2015

SO WHAT IS THE MUD ROOM?
It’s the room where the family enters first to dispose all clutter and (mud) before entering the home. It can also function as the laundry and utility room.
Today I was in the MOOD for posting my Mud room.  And seeing it is the letter M for Alphabet Thursday hosted by Jenny Matlock, it was the perfect time. I had never heard the term Mud room until I moved into this home and the builder referred to it as that.  It makes sense now, and believe me when I tell you, this room gets used often.  Besides doing our laundry in here, we also bathe  our little dog in the utility sink.  This room is home of my once Rooster kitchen…it is now the Rooster Mud room!~ They like getting dirty anyhow, so they all have their MOJO on in there.  They dance and sing when they hear the sound of Music to their ears….The washer and dryer is constantly Motioning!~

Fresh tulips help make it a happy place to be, when folding the clothes

You will notice the vine MURAL on the wall….looks hand painted right? Fill you in on that later..

Nice to have a door with a window, I love to watch the birds fly around too

Just a sample of some more rooster, this one is old bought it at an antique store for a couple of a bucks

Yes I know it looks all cluttered up on top there…but I had to pack everything in that was once in my kitchen, because I really do like them all

Very old wash board. Who actually used these, Did your Mom, or Grandmother ever use one? Whew…what work that would be!

This rug I thought was cute, matched the not hand painted ( by me) vines

This iron piece has been everywhere in my kitchen, you will see that next week and where I use to have it, oh and it has been many colors as well.  One thing about me, I always re-purpose things.

And now for my little secret on the Mural…..Tatouage Designs are the greatest revolution in home decor since wallpaper!  Beautifully detailed and affordable, they are murals and accents that anyone can create and apply to their wall in just minutes.  Even better, there is no paint, no glue, no water, no mess and absolutely no artistic ability is needed. I am not getting paid to endorse this company, I can only speak from experience.  If you are looking to cheer up a space or want to do something different in a bathroom, bedroom, laundry room, I would recommend this product.

Thanks for stopping over today. If you are not a  regular, I sure would love to see you back again.

The number of roosters in there is huge! The rug made me realize how into them you actually are 🙂

The tulips made a world of a difference. Really, oh what fun it is, to do laundry there!

Thank you for the Tatouage design idea. I hope you’ll remember that when you are to design my house 😉

As always it all looks lovely. I do so like the mural and will definitely check them out as you recommend them so highly. I would love to do something in my daughter’s room now she is getting past the baby stage and loves flowers so much. Still, I imagine your idea of easy is my idea of extreme difficulty but I can try!!

Your mud room is very impressive!!! Oh, the days of having a laundry room…how I miss them! I love the sign that says help needed, too funny!

You mentioned on my Big Lots post from yesterday that I should move the pieces closer together. Just to clarify, do you mean move just the little shelf closer to the mirror or move both of them down closer to the table? I’m so hasty when I hang things!!!

I have those same pansies in one of my window planters that came back after this winter..I’m not about to pull them out yet! Roosters in the mud room..yes…appropiate! :))

Why do I have to take my shoes off to enter the MUD room? LOL! It is all very nice and I don’t think it is overcrowded at all. Roosters in the mud room, very appropiate! Would you believe I have those same pansies in a window planter too? They came back after this winter and I just can’t bear to pull them out. This is a nice happy mud room.

Debbie, I love your Mud Room. I am soooooo jealous that you have a door to the outside & a window in there! Had one with my last house off of the back patio. We used to give the girls baths in the deep laundry sink when they were little! Could fold laundry & give them a bath at the same time 🙂
I love how light & airy it is & all of your beautiful roosters!

Your house is so beautiful. I haven’t forgotten about the books for your son. This is testing week at our school. If you have time, go to Scholastic.com and look at the titles available for May for his age. I will order what he wants and he can spend around 12.00. That should get a few interesting books for him.

I did manage to pull together a lot of the computer programs for his age that he will enjoy. I hope you are having a great week.

This is my first visit to your home and I find it quite intriquing!! You and I share a love for the same things–roosters, mainly! Because the farmhouse is so small, my mud room shares space with my office or vice versa. I love the mural technique and it certainly adds a lovely touch to your room. One of my big ‘issues’ in my laundry room is that I have a utility sink w/ no cabinet around it (unlike my SC house had, :O( so I want to get one installed. Everything looks so clean in yours. I long for the day. My favorite thing in there were the tulips, but I also like the roosters. The ones on the steps are cute too & your outside flowers are pretty too.
