Colonial home tour in PA

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: May 31, 2013

Thanks, Debbie, for inviting me to share my home today!
charmin colonial home tour in PA
I’m Doreen and my blog is – Hymns and Verses.

Welcome

Lancaster County, Pennsylvania is where my family calls home.  We live in a two story brick and siding Colonial.
We’ll begin our tour on the front porch.
We recently painted our shutters a dark brown.
The newly painted door was a step outside my comfort zone, but I love it!

Here’s our living room all ready for summer.

A lot of my decor is DIY, like this oversized clock that I made from an old table top that I got for free!

The side chair was purchased at a thrift store and I made the slip cover from drop cloth.

My summer photo display is made from Dollar Tree frames that I spray painted white and added some rope for a nautical feel.
The photos are family shots from vacations at the beach and other summer outings.
More rope, sand, vintage cameras and binoculars complete the mantel display.

I made the rope knot and will share a tutorial on my blog soon.  It was surprisingly easy to make!

Now lets head into the dining room.

My table and chairs were a yard sale bargain at $40.  Of course, they didn’t look like this when I found them!
I love the detail on the trestle table!

This was my grandmother’s corner cupboard.

The antique bucket bench is set up to serve lemonade this summer!
The light fixture is from Pottery Barn Outlet.  It was a steal at just $45!   At night it casts a pretty pattern on the ceiling.

What’s not to love about a daisy and fresh lemon centerpiece.

The latest work in progress in our home is the screen porch.
Along with our shutters, it was hunter green until last week.  Now the porch is a bright white.  I have a lot more planned for the porch, but this is a good start.

And to close, just a few shots in the back yard.  Hubby actually fell asleep on the hammock yesterday – a much needed break from painting!

This was my sister’s Schwinn from the early 1960’s.
The peonies are beautiful this year!

I hope you enjoyed visiting with me today!   Thanks, again, Debbie for the invite!

Thanks so much Doreen for sharing your beautiful home with us.  Lot’s of spaces I have never seen, and they are so charming and filled with love!
If you have not visited Doreen, you can go on over and check out her creativeness, she always has something fun to share.

This one should be called the Idea House tour because I got so many little ideas while scrolling through. I love that PB light fixture over the table. What a steal! Just lovely all the way around.

This is actually the second shout out I’ve seen for this blog in less than a week. I need to get a cup of coffee during break time and sit a spell there.

(Oh, who am I kidding? It’s always break time around here. I might as well do it now.)
