Home improvement idea in the kitchen

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Jan 27, 2014 · Modified: Feb 4, 2025

Hey there everyone!

For some time now Mike and I have pondering the idea of wood beams in our kitchen dinette area.

We both think it would add to the Country/Rustic feeling, and basically make the room a tad more cozy.

Who doesn’t like a cozy warm kitchen?!

Back a few years ago I stumbled across a site

Fauxwood beams.com and found myself browsing there for a very long time.

I could not get over the fact these beams are actual Fauxwood!

Let me show you some inspiring ideas and gorgeous kitchens I found.

Tell me what you think.

Heavy sandblasted

Timber

Aspen

Faux ceiling beams provide a simple and inexpensive way to dramatically improve the décor of a room. They can accentuate ceilings of interiors, giving rooms a warm and cozy feeling with the exact look of real wood without the extra weight and expense.

I am pretty excited over the thought.  Funny thing is I remember back in the 70’s these were a big thing.

In fact, I recall in our living room back when I was a kid having them.

I always say, everything old is new again

This is the area in where we are thinking this diy project would be great looking.

Great picture of that area of your home, Debbie! I love that clock. There are many pictures I’ve admired with beams like that. I try to imagine how it might look here in the condo with our vaulted ceilings. Looking forward to seeing how it looks in your home and what you think of it.

Love the look of beams in a ceiling. I live in an old mill town in Mass. and during the 89’s when some of the mills were being torn down builders were there literally fighting with each other to get the 1 x 1 beams.

Very pretty. My parents had a carpenter hand hue beams and installed them in their New England cape home. Whether real or faux I think they are a beautiful accent to any room.

What a great idea to use faux wood beams! I’ve never heard of them before, but I bet they’re a lot easier to install, and there wouldn’t be a problem with weight. They look so real, I can’t wait to see what your space looks like with them in.
    Debbie 🙂

I think that would be amazing! It’s a great room as is, but would be spectacular with those beams! Can’t believe they are faux!
