Transitional style Florida home tour

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Oct 5, 2013 · Modified: May 26, 2025

Good morning friends of Debbie Doo’s.

I am so excited to be here sharing my Transitional style Florida home tour with you.

I’m a South Georgia girl and married to the Army. We have moved, moved, moved again, and moved some more. I have lived all over the world, with the most exciting places being Korea and Hawaii.

We have always rented or lived in military quarters and have dreamed of the day that we could buy our own home and make it our “Home Sweet Home”.

We bought our home 2 years ago and it was exactly what we were looking for! A 1990’s outdated home that could use a little facelift.

I wish I could show you my entire home, however Uncle Sam called a year ago and needed my husband in Afganistan. He is home now, however some of the rooms have not been completed, hard wood floors have not been laid, and crown molding has not been hung. Regardless, this has become the place that we love and call HOME.

Welcome to my home!

My home is an open concept style. When you walk in the front door, you walk into my living room dining room combo.

As you walk through the living and dining room, you come into our main living area of our home, our kitchen and family room.

We painted our; kitchen cabinets white to freshen and lighten up the kitchen area, I painted the island and hung this capiz chandelier to add a modern look.

My kitchen opens up to my family room, which is the heart of our home.

We spend all of our time between the kitchen and the family room. I love the openess and how I can always be a part of what our girls are doing when they have friends over.

We also have a guest bath that we added a new vanity, a new faucet and lighting to make it more current, and ; board and batten to give it a little bit of character.

My guest room is one room that I am still waiting to finsish. I will give you a quick glimpse as it is in the process of being completed.

Both of my girls are into surfing so both of them chose their own bedroom decor to reflect what they love.

We decorated Gabby’s in a whimsical surfer girl bedroom.

Hayley chose a surfing bedroom too, however she added her own touch, showing off her teenage personality.

Sometimes moms and daughters decorating ideas clash, and as a mom, you just have to let go. Yes if even when it is hard to do so. However I am very thankful she chose to only decorated behind her door area.

They chose to decorate their bathroom in bright, fun colors and patterns.

My master bedroom turned out to be my favorite room in the house.

I chose different shades of blue gray mixed with white to decorate with. I think it is the perfect mix to be both elegant but mascular.

My master bath has been under construction for a while and has come to a complete stop. Hopefully we will have it finished soon.

We still have projects to complete to make it the perfect home for us.

I hope you have enjoyed the tour of my home.

Come back again when you can visit a little longer.

If it’s not too hot, we can sit outside by the pool and enjoy a glass of sweet tea.

In the South, we always say “you may come as a guest, but you leave as a friend!”

Come on over to Recreate and Decorate and take a look around, I would love to have you.

your home is beautiful! but I really like your daughters rooms….more my style. We retired from the Navy many years ago so I understand your need to settle down. We did but after a few years (20+) we sold our house and became gypsies once again.
