Thinking outside the box

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: May 2, 2011 · Modified: Jan 11, 2016

Goodwill box

So I told you the other day I was thrifting at our local humane society.  I love that place and they do such a wonderful job of caring for all those unwanted or stray pets that need new homes.  I can tell you there is an overload of kitty cats! A lot do find homes and even if they don’t they have a pretty good life there.  People come and walk the dogs and play with the cats on a daily basis.

Anyhow, I spied this BOX for 6.00.  It was old and I could tell by the somewhat old funky smell.  You know that smell I am speaking of, not so pleasant. Well anyhow for 6.00 and some good cleaner I figured I could do something with it.
The lady at the register said “Finally someone is buying that box”!
I also scored some old camera’s for 5.00 a piece, and some travel decals too!
So my mind went a spinning, and this is what I came up with…
I was going to paint it, but honestly, I like it as is. It matches our old  door above the bed in the masterbedroom

So I decided to make a photo box, added some old Pics of dear ole Gramps, the old cameras and a family vacation album.  Oh lets not forget some negatives.
I do not do many of these albums anymore since everything is on computer.  But I think I will this summer. Nothing like thumbing through a photo album.

So let’s get this newbie party started!
GUIDELINES:
Blogging six months or less/and/or less than 100 followers.
If you are not a friend of mine, I would love if you became one.

I try to visit each link and comment.  I don’t always make the commenting, for several reasons.
Word verification trips me up big time.  I do not have time to retype nonsense two and three times, so I leave. I have a feeling a lot of gals do.  So consider getting rid of it.
Remember this party is for you to make new friends. So please do not link and leave and expect the world to come flocking.  That is not how blogging works.  Comment, comment, comment.  You will be surprised what you get back.  I love when I see my old friends who can’t be a part of the party participating.  Thank you for the support.
Have fun!
XO
I am starting the newbie party early and ending it earlier than normal.
It will be over Tuesday evening by 11:00 pm.  Because the pet partay will be starting on Wednesday…
get those pets ready  for their big day!

Love the old box, and love that you have the camera stuff displayed in it. So your humane shelter has a thrift store in it? That would be sooo cool, to go shop and see all the little animals in one trip. I may just have to bring this up to my favorite shelter and see what they say. We just got a brand new "no kill" shelter about 30 miles from us and they have asked me to volunteer, imagine that. See ya at the pet party.

I love this! In a way, I think it's very sad that most people don't have actual photos anymore. I always feel that our kids and grandkids will miss out on so much family history without them. I am starting the task of having favorites printed and preparing albums for both my kids…and hoping they share with the grands. 🙂 One of the prices of technology, right?

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Thanks for shopping at your humane society store.
Animal shelters need people to kitten rub – helps socialize the felines and keeps them happier, which keeps them healthier.
Also, when I shop at bulk stores, I buy extra of laundry soap, dish washing soap, heavy-duty trash bags, and bleach for the animals. A clean kennel with clean bedding makes a healthier environment for the animals.
    Ps the box is great
