How to make a low fat version of chicken and dumplings and not compromise the taste

I swear to you, you will never know the difference! Today I am sharing how to make a low fat version of chicken and dumplings and not compromise the taste. You think this is impossible? Well, I am here to tell you, my family never knew the difference and either did I.

Don’t get me wrong, the heavier in the calorie chicken and dumpling recipe is dynamite.

My friend Laurian is the one who turned me on to the chicken and dumplings last week. I couldn’t believe how easy and delicious it was. Of course being the southerner that she is, her version had heavy cream in it. Her tip for a heavier broth is to mix heavy cream with the flour and it makes it more creamy.  Of course it does! Add a little butter to the side and you have all the makings of some hardy and lots more calorie packed chicken and dumplings.

I would have never guessed to use biscuits in lieu of dumplings. How simple is this? Just be sure to cut your biscuits in 4’s. This is about the most calories in the pot. Consider this though, even if you only have two of the “dumpling” biscuits it’s really not that bad. That equates to half a biscuit, that won’t be landing on your biscuit(bka) butt so bad!

Fresh veggies

White chicken breast. I cheated and bought a rotisserie  chicken breast from our local market.

Get your bib on and dig in!

Enjoy the recipe.

This looks sooooo good. I think I will make it in the crock pot and then add the dumplings at the end too.
Never thought of using biscuits. Easy Peasy and delish. Thanks for sharing.
    xoxo Happy Friday.
