Garden style Master bedroom freshened up for summer

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Jun 15, 2014 · Modified: Feb 4, 2025

Hi there everyone!  Hope all is well and you are getting some nice Summer weather your way.

So nice to see flowers bloom and hear the sweet sounds of birds every morning.

Today I am sharing our Garden style Master bedroom freshened up.

I have been on a serious  cleaning and freshening mode around this place.

Much needed though.

A few weeks ago I shared my Dollar tree glittered vases.

They were inspired by my new bedding I recently purchased.

bedding

When I saw this bedding on line at Bed Bath and Beyond,

I knew it was exactly what I was looking for.

Colorful, yet subtle, and spoke happy  Summer.

I told you had one more vase to share when I shared my Dollar tree Glitz ones.

This one I simply embellished with twine and stickers.  They came in a pack at the dollar tree with flowers.

I wrapped the twine just around the rim,

added the sticker flowers

And made twine leaves and stems.  Easy! looks so cute too.

I added the orange pillows, even though there is no orange in the bedding. Not sure if I love it, or hate it yet.

I may want some pretty yellow ones instead.

I haven’t added the bed skirt yet it came with..that is a hard job and with my bum shoulder I need my husbands help to lift the mattress.

Sure wish they would come up with an easier method to adding bed skirts. Perhaps something with Velcro.

How many women’s heads have gotten a mattress collapsed on them? I am betting a lot!

One last thing I can’t forget, is our Ikea closet solution.  All mine:) Gosh this thing has save my marriage, I swear.

You can read all about it.

Always nice to see you.

Pretty bedding, Debbie! Before we got our King bed, I used to be able to maneuver the bedskirt on by sliding it up from the end and going back and forth between each side. It worked for me when I wanted to change it out and no one else was around. With your shoulder, you are probably smart to wait for help though.

I’m in love with the bedspread pattern as well. I think you just solved the problem with the bedskirt (velcro) and I look forward to the post on the how to. Only Debbiedoo can figure it out 🙂

Love the new summer bedding Debbie!…and yes, wish the bedskirts came with a velcro solution rather than having the task of removing the mattress!…Cute, cute vases…looking forward to the series!

you can cut the center out of bedskirt and sew or glue the velcro to the bed skirt and the boxspring. Done this for years for the very reason, no help to put it on.

Debbie, love the look, & I have the very same accent pillow about living happily ever after in red writing….so I know where you got that wink wink. As for the bed skirt Bed Bath & Beyond, has a whole line of skirts now that you don’t have to lift the mattress. Can’t remember the brand name, & I don’t think they were that elastic type that never seem to fit right either, they might be Velcro. As a matter of fact I’m going there today, so I’ll look to see what the name was. As for the orange I like it.

Your new bedding looks great Debbie! I know what you mean about bed skirts…it is a two person job and then it is still hard!

You know what I would do?? I’d put both skirts on. Then I’d shove the non used bed skirt under mattress. Believe it or not it never looked all that wrinkly. I like the bed skirt you have on. Use the bed skirt fabric for shams? Use the bed part of skirt for sham back?? Do it easiest way since your shoulder hurts. I love the orange. It pops in photo. Maybe only one yellow bolster shape pillow? There. I’m such a bossy decorator when it’s not me doing the work! But truthfully don’t hurt that shoulder worse.

PS. I would not bother with changing bed skirt. I’ve heard of people cutting it away from big piece and shoving what’s left {maybe a 6-8″ piece of the inner piece }under the bed leaving the new skirt on top of one that’s there. But I kinda liked idea of shams!!!

LOL…I like you way of thinking. It still remains unchanged. I will not hurt my shoulder believe me, not when it has taken me this long {almost a year} to have it feeling a 80 percent better. I should just ask my husband, but seems his honey do list is long these days LOL!

Your bedroom looks so lovely Debbie, very summery and light:) I know what you mean about bedskirts, they’re a pain to get on and off. I have one that’s elastic so you just pull it over the box spring, like a skirt. Only thing is it’s not that nice looking, sort of thin and a bit see through. Anyway, your room looks beautiful!

    Hi Debbie,

If you are not sure of the orange pillows, swap them for yellow to match the drapes…..love the bedding and curtains…….Debbie does it again…….
