Spring is the time for plans and projects

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Feb 18, 2015 · Modified: Feb 4, 2025

Hi friends!  Do you get the Spring bug for plans and projects?  They say Spring is the time for plans and projects and it typically is true in our home.

How to make a spring flower jar

I wait to do the deep Spring cleaning until after the pollen has settled.  The pollen gets really bad here in the Carolina’s. Not great for allergies either.  None the less I do love the season when the flowers start to bloom and the birds are chirping away and looking for their seed I put out in the feeders we have every where.

You already know I am in Spring crafting mode.  It started with my Burlap spring art, then I made the ladybug candle.  Today

I cheered up the kitchen dining area window.  It started with a jar.

Then one thing leads to another as they say. “They” say a lot don’t they? Whoever “they” are?

Spring wreath and flower mason jar 004

A jar, some chalky paint and a stencil.

mason jar painted with chalky paint for springI thought this color would speak Spring. The color is escape.  I have mentioned this paint is now sold in Michael’s, Hobby lobby and Home depot.

Stencile adhesive and stencil used on a mason jar craftThe stencil I have used once before when I made a burlap wedding banner for my friend.

It is so pretty.  The spray adhesive was perfect for using it on the jar.  It completely stayed in place and I was able to dab away.

How to paint a spring mason jarI just realized I could lightly sand it to look a bit more aged.  I think I will go back and do that.

Spring mason jar and decor in the kitchenI added some dollar tree flowers to a grapevine wreath and tied a simple white bow around them.

It’s definitely starting to look like Spring….indoors anyway:)

My color scheme this season will be blues.yellow.white.green.

I am not sure how many Spring plans and projects Mike and I will do.  With Alex starting college this summer, we will be on a tight budget.  Tis, I love the dollar tree! a free jar, can or whatever else inexpensive I can come up with to decorate our home is what I will do and love to do it!

I do want to change up Alex’s room when he leaves.  I just want to make it more grown up for him when he does come back home on his breaks.  I have some plans swirling around for that as well.  Considering his room has not been changed since his Freshman year in HS, it’s time.  You can see what I did back then.

Teenage boy bedroom makeover.

Thanks for stopping over today. If you are not a regular here, I sure would love to see you back again.

XO

Love the touches of blue & yellow! The vase/jar is really pretty, too. Maybe that’s what I need to do to get out of this winter funk!

Your home looks great with some Spring brought in, Debbie! I will have to start doing that myself because this snow is starting to drive me mad.

I like how your jar turned out and I love the wreath. I wanted to make a spring wreath yesterday so bad, but I didn’t have a wreath. (I had the flowers and ribbon.) I looked around the house for something I could use with no success. Trust me, with 10 inches of snow earlier, a dusting yesterday, and the extreme cold today, I need some spring!

Love the color combo and all the Spring touches so far! I’m a Dollar store gal too! Did you get the yellow blooms that look like Forsythia (on the table) from there too?

My husband bought that for me, and he never told me where he bought it. I have asked several times and he told me he can’t give away all his secret shopping places lol!
