Thankful series

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Nov 5, 2014 · Modified: Feb 15, 2025

Welcome!  Today I am reflecting on all that I am Thankful for.  Blessings great, and treasures small, I am thankful for them all.

Last year I shared my All things Thankful post and was delighted to be invited back again this year to do the same.

This past year has been a whirlwind for our family.  Hard to believe it is almost the end of 2014.

A few months back I shared with you a scare I had last December.  You can read about  Take care of you, there’s only one .

Ironically enough, my sister just went through a very similar scare and thankfully in the end all is well.

I am thankful for the difficult times, even the stress as during those times I grow and learn.

ang and I

The closer I am getting to the big 50, the more mixed emotions I have on a daily basis.  I LOVE life and call me selfish, but I want to be here forever.  But turning 50 means your life is more than half way over.  WHAT? I feel like it is just beginning. That’s because it is right?!

Our boys are growing up so fast and soon will leave the nest.   This guy here is the first

Alex drum major in the band

Alex is a senior in High School and 1 of 3  Drum majors of his marching band

alex state champ

He is  leaving his senior  year as a State champ.  I’m going out on a limb here, but going to say this was probably the happiest moment of his life.  Can you tell by his big smile there?

Alex will be heading to College as a pre med student.  We are so very proud of the young man he has become and I hope all his dreams and wishes come true.

And then there’s this fellow  here Jack.

Congratulations to our son Jack for being nominated, and selected to attend the Annual Limestone College 2014 Middle school Honor band clinic! He gets to go on a trip for two days and perform with other students chosen from across the Southeastern United States!

Looks like I may have another band kid on my hands! Very Thankful indeed for that.  We love music and feel it adds so much joy to their lives along with the experiences and travels they get to participate in. Our band ROCKS here in Fort Mill.  Been around for 40 years and 33 of those years they leave the field a champion.  Their hard work and dedication to the program certainly pays off.  Heck, they start practice the end of July every year and go right through til the end of October.

I always tell Jack the world is his oyster and he can make it whatever he aspires it to be.

Jack will be a rising Freshman this upcoming year.

He loves sports and will be trying out for the Middle school basketball team next week, as a matter of fact.

Jack as well enjoys band, and we are encouraging him to join the Marching band in HS.

We can enjoy a fire on a cool Fall evening on occasion. Thankful that fireplace is out there, otherwise not so thankful to be out in the cold.

So in closing, I left  you with my All things Thankful.  As you can see, it wasn’t about things at all, it was all about my family, my heart.

It’s easy to be thankful for all the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks. We all have had a few in life.

Of course, I could not end my thankfulness without including my Mom!

My many blessing began with her.

XO

Mom, me and Ang

Very excited they are coming for Thanksgiving once again this year.  It’s tradition for many years now.  We create the best family memories anyone could ask for.

And of course, my wonderful, handsome, supportive, strong  husband I have in Mike.  I am thankful he puts up with me.

That’s our little pug Lucy! We love her too, and so thankful she is a part of our lives.  She brings much joy and laughter to our family.

Beautiful post ~ beautiful family! You know, I was dreading the big 5-0 so much…it was really bad. I was on a trip with a guy I was seeing at the time, we stopped for lunch outside Corpus Christi, TX. Long story short, I got choked on a piece of meat and was almost passing out when a stranger came over and performed the Heimlich! He honestly saved my life ~ talk about gratitude and putting things in perspective. My friend had no clue what to do so thank God this other guy did. Cracked a couple of ribs but that was minor. 🙂

Your boys are growing up so fast and they really are handsome! So many incredible opportunities out there for them ~ we know they’re going to be successful. Love the photo of you, your Mom and sister! Enjoy making more treasured memories this Thanksgiving.
