Touch of spring in the family room

Touch of spring in the family room

Hello there friends! Not to be a negative Nellie or anything, but I am quite miserable these days. No sun, no spring, and I barely see a bird flying around. I am over it!! I spread a touch of spring in the family room hoping this would put a little pep in my step to make me smile. Weather obviously effects me. I have known this about myself for years now. It just gets worse though as I get older. Makes me want to stay in bed instead of spring out and start the day.

I made the ribbon banner a few years ago. You can find that quick and simple project HERE.

The spring wooden appliques were a fun little project I made over with chalky paint that you can find HERE

I layered the ribbon banner with a burlap shabby one I found at Michael’s a few years back on clearance. I love layering and textures. Obviously, I love color too.

I suppose on a sunny day soon it will inspired me to add a touch more of Spring. For now, this is all I got!:)

I have a lot more Spring ideas from years past you may enjoy while you are here.

I share your sentiments – Spring just seems reluctant to arrive in the UK too – thankfully I had a months break in Africa & the bright blue skies as I find the greyness is trying by the end of winter.

However, your decor is so lovely & welcoming – I love the idea of your ribbon banner. My sideboard / dresser has been changed for Easter because we will be having visitors for lunch in the conservatory …

Totally understand the blahs! We had 12 inches of snow in our backyard in Nevada, and they cancelled school. Double bummer….the sun pops thru then it spits more snow. You never know here. Sping/Summer will be around the corner then I will complain it’s too hot! ? Your room looks darling thankyou for sharing.

Love your home, Debbie! Always an inspiration. I know what you mean about the winter blues. My mother and I both felt it every year. Sunshine is the best medicine. Our bulbs are blooming, but we are expecting more snow next week in Northern California.

    Hi Debbie!
I have been away from blogging for a while and I am trying to find all the “old blogs” I used to love. I am putting you on my sidebar so I don’t miss your posts from now on.

I am the same way-this time of year is just BLAH to me. I need light and fresh air and sunshine. I don’t do well with the long winters and miserably cold springs.

Have a wonderful upcoming weekend. xoDiana

Refresh your front porch with wreaths that adds a touch of spring. The fireplace is the focal point to any room, so why not infuse the freshness of spring onto your mantel?
