Recycled milk, juice cartons

Hi!! I’m just a wee bit pumped to be here at Debbie’s place. I like that girl. Pinch her cheeks, hip bump, coke drinking kind of like. *sigh* Is it because she’s letting me take over her blog? Nope, although that’s amazing. She’s just so…Debbie. Which is pretty darn cool.

I better stop gushing or she’s going to think I’m buttering her up for something. My name is Janel and I blog at NellieBellie. Here’s a picture of me and a button from my blog. So, you can picture me in your head while I gab at you.

Today I want to chat about an inexpensive way to get cute storage for your home. From milk cartons, oj cartons, and soda bottles. And hats. Cheap, simple…hats. You heard me right; cute storage from plastic cartons and hats.

Let me give you the easy play by play on this cute and easy project…

Step 1. Wash and dry your containers.
Step 2. Cut them to size. A sharp knife works fine for this, you don’t need anything fancy. Just don’t do a me…try to keep the edges straight.
Step 3. Put your hat on. These hats are the cheap, cheap kind. No joke… I paid .50 for them.
Step 4. Dab a bit of hotglue in the center on the bottom of the container, settle the hat on center. This keeps everything in place.
Step 5. Hot glue your hat down and around the top of the container and into the inside of the container.

Now marvel at your ingenuity. Then, add decoration to your container. I recommend adding a strip of yarn or ribbon to the very top to give it a nice clean edge. For my containers I hot glued pretty yarn in patterns, swirls, and bows. Simple, but oh so pretty!

There you have it. A cute container that is budget-friendly, earth-friendly, and décor-friendly!
