Our trip to Roanoke VA

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Oct 16, 2010

When George Washington was 18 years old, he climbed this wall and engraved his initials. They still do not know how he possibly could have done this.

My boys enjoyed exploring nature.

This place was a 2 and half hour wait. Turns out there was a VA tech game. It was unbelievable the people. The food was worth the wait. The experience alone was worth it. My boys had a blast up here waiting and playing.

Just an old house converted

These where just half the people waiting to get in…the entire yard and front where filled.

This was  a really neat site…and so beautiful once on top of this mountain

This was the view of the entire city

The boys had a blast up there, they where NINJA’s. We went with friends…that Is TY and his Dad

We also snuck in a corn maze one day

A toy museum…I had this doll, anyone else remember her?

This is still part of the first tour on the Natural bridge

Wax museum, this was creepy going in, I thought this was a real kid

Did a cave tour, it was cold and spooky, but fun nonetheless.

At one point during this tour, they shut off the lights…my youngest was panic stricken. It was spooky!

I love to get pictures of my husband when he does not know…..he hates to get his picture taken…not sure why…just look at this handsome Man!!~ So that is our trip to Roanoke..it was short, sweet and packed full of fun.

What a great little weekend getaway my family, friends and I had.  I did not share the thousands of pictures I took, but you get the gist!  It was gorgeous there!

Looks like you had fun. No idea there was that much to do there. And I love the sign for the restaurant that mentions 2 meats for one price and a different price for three meats. They must have some good meat there if you would want to get three.

    Hi Debbie!
It looks like you had a wonderful time. Don't you love to find those local "secrets" – like that restaurant?
It sure looks like you had fun and it looks like you were busy most of the time….always a good thing with kids along.
I do remember that doll-one of my girls had one….just think-now you are old enough to have soemthing considered worthy of a museum:>) Kinda weird, huh? Hugs-Diana

Now this looks like a great trip! I want to go now. I love that Natural bridge. Did you ever get to eat at that restaurant? I do remmber those baby dolls. I had one too, I think. The one I had would use the bathroom when you gave it water. Yuck, huh? LOL! For some reason though I thought mine was called Baby Luv. IDK why! I was just thinking do you ever remember these small dolls called, Dawn dolls? They were so cool. They were smaller then barbies but were basically like teenage girls (I'm guessing) and had the coolest "mod" clothes. They all had long straight hair too. Oh the days! That musuem would have been fun too!

Love all your photos and what a fun trip!! I'm fascinated by caves and caverns and love tours. It's like living, very briefly, on the edge of safety. Must be the wild card in me.

I can't believe how many people were waiting for the restaurant. That's when you know the food is awesome.

LOL! I just got your post! To answer your question I just tuned 45on Oct.3rd. My sister actually had the Dawn dolls but I eventually took them over. I was big time into Barbie, I had Barbie everything. She never wanted me to mess with her Dawn dolls because they were "her's" until she outgrew them. I was always amazed at how petite they were compared to Barbie. As for the baby doll, I googled it and the one I had was called "Baby Tender Love". LOL! Great memories! Thanks! Now you must tell me your age too! 🙂
