No sew owl fall pillow idea

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Sep 17, 2015

I told you it would be all about the owl for me  when I shared my polka dot fall banner, fall porch, and mantel. Today, I am sharing a no sew owl fall pillow idea.

I have seen my friend Ann from On Sutton place use these pillow covers many times for some of her no sew projects.

Ann even shares a cute pumpkin template to create your own.  Very simple diy here.

I went on line and used a 40% coupon and scored it for $5.99.

I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

For this project you will need

Pillow cover

owl stencil

stencil spray adhesive or painters tape works just as well.

Some burlap, mod podge for fabric, craft paints in your own color choice,  and sponge brushes which I always score at Dollar tree in a pack of 10.

make a no sew owl pillowFirst, I pressed my pillow cover.  Then I took my spray adhesive and lightly sprayed the back of the stencil and adhered it center to my pillow cover

owl pillowI used country blue and copper for my owl stencil.  I love to stencil on fabric. I find it so simple and always turns out perfect.  Remember less is more.  You can always go over spots you missed.  If you over saturate your sponge brush you will have a sloppy bleed through.

I wanted a little texture in those areas.

mod podge on fabricI lightly painted the back of the burlap cut outs with the mod podge for fabric and put them in place on my pillow.

Oh I forgot to mention I did place a plastic shopping bag inside the pillow just in case of bleed through, while I stenciled.  You don’t want that to happen either.

owl no sew pillowStill in the drying mode here.

Stenciled owl pillowStuffed my pillow with the pillow insert and there you have a cute little one of kind hand painted owl fall pillow.

What a great idea, both of them! How much is the pillow cover?

It’s 9.99 but with the coupon it is only $5.99.

Love it! I just did a Halloween tote for the kids, but I need to get some pillow covers and try this. The owl is just adorable. 🙂

You did a great job on that pillow and you have inspired me to create a no sew pillow of my own!

Oh Debbie, I love your owl pillow. Owls are one of my favorite things. Can decorate with them year round.
