Thrift store chair painted two toned with Annie Sloan chalk paint

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Apr 29, 2012 · Modified: Feb 4, 2025

I have been dying to try two Annie Sloan Chalk paint colors for the past year.

Today I am sharing a thrift store chair painted two toned with Annie Sloan chalk paint.

Last week I shared with you an inspiration for the magazine copy cat challenge.

maga 1024x731 Thrift store chair, painted and stenciled {Magazine copy cat challenge inspiration}

The thrift store chair on the right….

After I stenciled the initial on top, I was not crazy about it anymore. Besides this chair was out all winter, and really needed a freshening up.

Perfect opportunity to use my new Annie Sloan colors.

Gotta love my work area…the kitchen floor.

Hey, at least something is getting done in there..it sure is not cooking!

{Note you can also use Annie Sloan chalk paint as a chalk board} I painted this mat, let it dry and wrote on it. It worked great!

Now where to put it????????

I knew after I painted the chair, it could not be all green…

LOVE the color, but way too much green.

So I I just randomly added some of the Louis blue…

Waxed it..

Stenciled on the seat…

Used copper color craft paint for my stencil project.

Lightly distressed.

And there you have the Thrift store chair resurrection!

Mixing different shades of greens, blues and yellows  can really work well together in one room.

I think this is a perfect example!~

If you are new here, welcome! I hope to see you back again.

Debbie this is so cute — I love the shape and lines of the chair AND the colors you chose! I also LOVE your ‘work space’ — LOL. I usually use the basement or garage but I think the light upstairs is much better for crafting. Love these colors — I need to branch out and try some of the brighter ones!

I love the chair! I have never used the ASC paints; the outcome is just beautiful, but there seem to be so many steps: different paint colors, waxes, etc. Do I need a class? I have an old table I would dearly love to do this summer. Any help any of you can offer would be great!

Hi Nancy! The first color was Arles, and that was done last Fall. The next color I did was the Antibes green…than as you can see I just trimmed it in the Louis Blue. The wax was the last step. Really NONE of it difficult in the sense the paint is so easy to work with and dries so fast. I think you would love it.

I just love the mix of the green and blue. I’m trying to step out of the box with colors because I love all the whimsy I see at places like this. My biggest problem is getting my rooms to all have neutral backdrops to begin with. Sure hope the fun color trend stays put until I can catch up!
