Your must buys at the Dollar tree

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Jan 23, 2015 · Modified: Feb 4, 2025

Shop Debbiedoo' stencil lineGood day! Today, I am sharing your must buys at the dollar tree.

 Glad you are here today because I am going to share some secret insider tips and your must buys at the Dollar tree.  I actually interviewed the fellow who worked there one day while standing in line.  They pretty much know me on a first name basis there, and  I know them.  My favorite cashier is Cindy.  You can bet your dollar, every time you walk in, she says to each customer “hello, welcome to the Dollar tree” on top of her lungs.  It could get on your nerves if you are a regular, but she is a super nice lady, so you smile and say thank you. And she never forgets to say “Have a good day Maam”! that too on top of her lungs! {we live in the South, home of good manners}

Dollar Tree, Inc. is a customer-oriented, value-driven variety store operating at a one dollar price point.  Dollar Tree is a proud national Sponsor of Operation Homefront.

The best part is that there is probably a Dollar Tree store near you! They are a national company with thousands of stores conveniently located in shopping centers and malls in all 48 contiguous states. You can also shop online for larger quantities of the same items you’d find in their stores, plus download craft and project sheets, take advantage of online exclusives and manufacturer closeouts, and get great ideas on  small business, teacher, non-profit/charities, craft, and wedding pages.

10 Must buys at the dollar tree

These are just a few of the reasons I love the Dollar tree.  You already know per season I shop there.  My entire Christmas decor this past season was Dollar tree.  In fact, even my other seasonal decor, such as Valentines, and Spring time crafts…most created from Dollar store items.

I probably spend a total of $25.00 to decorate our home per season.  Next year, I will dig out all my bins and do a different Christmas theme, Valentines, Spring and more.  You can bet, there is probably a lot from the dollar tree.

Certain things  I only will shop for at the Dollar tree.

Here they go:

1. Must use Ultrabrite toothpaste with baking soda and Peroxide.  We have been using this toothpaste for years now.  Our boys have never had a cavity, and I have not had a cavity since I was a teenager.  Our dental check ups are always top notch.  I swear it is the Ultrabrite.  I have tried others and always go back.

2.  Gift bags and cards.  Most greeting cards are 2 for $1.00.  They do have cards for $1.00 that are a tad nicer and I usually wind up buying those.

The gift bags come in a large variety of sizes and for just about every occasion. You can even find smaller plain brown, white or black gift bags at 3  for a $1.00.

3.  Dishes and mugs.  You know I love a good sharpie craft .  I also use the dollar tree plates for my crafting with printable’s and mod podge.

They have solid and pattern choices.  They are actually really nice dishes for a buck!

4.  Zip lock baggies.  Why do I want to go pay at least $2.00 more for the same size and quality zip locks? I don’t, and I won’t!

5.  Large foil tins.  Going to a party and want to make a casserole, cake, or bring cookies?  Why forget your plate at the hostesses house.  Buy the the foiled tins @ 2 for a $1.00. They too come in a variety of sizes.

6.  Throw back candy!

Oh, how we love Swedish fish.

Sugar babiessugar babies and Jack’s favorite…

DOTS

Dots

These are all great for special treats on occasion or a party you are throwing.  You can find a large variety of great candy.

7.  Craft supplies, School supplies and poster boards.  Every time the boys have a school project, I hit up the dollar tree.  You figure if they have a few a year it can add up quickly.  The Dollar tree makes it affordable and you can get away with doing a school project for well under $10.00. They also carry all the necessary school supplies, glue sticks, binders, composition books, pencils, crayons and more.  That school supply list is quite lengthy, and expensive.  You can save a lot purchasing most at the dollar tree.

I love the foam boards myself .  I like to use the boards as a back drop for photographing my craft projects.

They now even have a washi tape knock off.  Which works just as well.

8.  Snacks

Every Friday during band season the kids had a secret pal gift exchange.  Considering it is every week, the dollar tree is about all that is in the kids budget, or should I say our budget.

You can load up a goodie bag like you can’t believe for $10.00.

bugels

cliff bars

orange soda

The kids always look forward to their goodie bags. Before a long road trip,  the goodies keep them happy and satisfied.

9.  Check their new arrivals weekly on line.  I like to be the first one there for those.  Everything seems to go pretty fast and a lot of the seasonal decor you may not see twice per season, per shipment.

This will conclude my must buys at the Dollar tree round up.

This is not a paid or sponsored post.  Just my opinion and loyal love to the Dollar tree.

Cheers.

I have a Dollar Tree super close to me. I admit I’m often surprised at what cool stuff they have! But why oh why did you have to mention the Swedish Fish? I have a particular weakness for it, and now I’m going to have to go and buy some tomorrow, wink wink! Didn’t know about the washi tape! Gotta check that out, too. Happy Weekend, Debbie!

Great round-up Debbie and I want to add a few things I think worth mentioning. Dollar Tree has the best stainless steel cleaner (wipes) out there and I’ve tried lots of well known cleaners but none can get the job done and last like DT wipes can. Also, I was shocked to see 5 yd. rolls of mesh ribbon available in lots of colors and also travel size bottles of Plaid Mod Podge – how cool is that?

I love Dollar Tree, too! That’s where I purchase all the bags for the cookie trays I make. At 2 for $1, it helps keep my overhead down, and they are large enough to cover any size tray.
