Mixing and matching textures in the kitchen

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Aug 21, 2013

Hey there peeps!

Just a quickie in the kitchen and sharing how mixing and matching textures can work.

You remember when I reupholstered our kitchen chairs with the gingham check fabric?

Well, I still love it.

However, 6 chairs in gingham made me a little stir crazy.

So I decided with some of those free coffee bags I was given,

you know the ones that I used to make my diy burlap rag wreath?

I would go ahead and reupholster the two chairs at the head table.

And yes, lazy I am and covered the burlap right over the gingham.

Why not? When I want to go back tot he gingham, it will be there.

I like that this coffee sack has some red peeking through from the other side which has a large print on it with red and green.

This is NOT a fancy all staged up photo.

Sometimes I just want to post and share something simple.

Mixing and Matching textures in the kitchen

This was simple and looks great with the rest of the burlap I have spread about.

You will see it all come together in the future.

Bottom line…..

Mix and match it up. Not everything has to be the same:)

I will be back first thing in the morning to show you where I hung that rag wreath btw.

Thanks for stopping by today.

See you again soon.

You can follow me anytime,

anyplace.

I love mixing and matching. Your chairs look great. And sometimes I just want to share without all of the staging, too. I think our readers appreciate it.

Oh my, that looks real pretty! I love mixing color, texture and pattern as well and you have done an awesome job of it! I like the fact that you kept the gingham underneath, that way you can always go back when it takes your fancy:) hugs, Poppy

I love the chairs, Debbie! I am planning to do some grain sack or burlap cushions on my kitchen chairs this fall. I love the look of them.

I love the red and white gingham fabric on your chairs, Debbie, but I understand the need to mix it up sometimes. Chairs like these are the easiest to make these changes to because it’s so easy to remove the seats. I purposely looked for chairs like this when we got ours many years ago. The burlap makes for a nice and different mix with the red and white. Looking forward to seeing “the big picture”! : )

Very cute! I love the gingham though too. Gingham just says “homey dining” to me.
