FrOm TrAsh to TreAsure~

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Apr 6, 2010 · Modified: Dec 28, 2019

FrOm TrAsh to TreAsure~

This was my very first SUMMER redo project.

Thrown to the curb and disposed of as junk! That certainly is not the way I saw this gem.

Very heavy piece at that, I managed to throw it in the back of my SUV and off I went.  I already had a color in mind, and could not wait to get started.

First things, first.

Clean this baby up.
I used a mild dish soap and cloth and wiped it down.  The piece had some substantial rusty spots that I lightly sanded.  Because the piece was light, I did not feel it needed to be primed.
I have had it for over a year now, and the spray paint job has held up well.
Come take a look for your self.

Pretty bad shape, and then the miracle unravels right before your very own eyes…

And TAA DAA……….

Amazing what a little spray paint can do.

And this piece is useful and can display some summer pretties and plants.

Added some fun colorful accessories and I have a pretty display piece for the summer!
If only they could see it now.

I am still in total awe of this project — that you decided to recycle something that looked to be in terrible condition, that you then chose "yellow" (how brave is that?), and that now I want one too!!!!! Great job, actually more than great, really fabulous. That's a wonderful "bragable" and I'm so glad that you shared it at Wednesday Boardwalk Bragfest!!!

Okay so I totally had a jaw dropping moment when I saw the after. For real….my mouth came open and the sound "ahhhhh" came out. I would never in a million years have picked that yellow color, but holy cow, I am totally looking at color in a new way! Fabulous!

Very pretty!!! 🙂 You really gave it a second life. I found your link on Tatertots and Jello. I wish I knew which parties you're linked to so I could check them out too, but you only have the homepages listed. 🙁

i found a plastic bird cage at a thrift sale last year, it was a dull gold, I thought I would paint it, seeing your shelf, I could rethink it, or get it a little brighter. And now to think what I want to do with it? lots of ideas. jo sunnyside.

I’ve been looking for one of these outdoor baker’s racks to put out on our patio/breezeway, and I passed up a bargain for $25 at habitat Resale store last year and I could kick myself a zillion times for not buying it. I am going to ask my daughter to show me how to go on Free Cycle or Craig’s list for this item, but in our nearby area. Keeping my eyes open at yard sales too.
I made a notation of that Kryon Barhouse Gold..I love that color..really makes a smashing effect and so bright.
Thanks for sharing this with your fans/followers.

Have any good outdoor decorating ideas for July 4th?
