Traditional warm welcoming home tour in Ohio

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Jun 14, 2013 · Modified: Feb 4, 2025

I am so happy to be here at Debbie’s today…not with a recipe but with my Home Tour!
Seems I’m always working on something so this is a hot-off-the-press update with lots of changes from last year.
Enjoy the tour!
Welcome Ann from On Sutton Place………….
In July of 2012 I began the process with an Etsy artist to have a watercolor painted of my front porch. This is something I have wanted to do for years. I’m not sure what made me finally take the time to do it but I’m so glad I did. Here is the finished painting.
The artist is Carol Bray and you can find her on Etsy. Here is the link to her shop:

Now for the tour. Welcome to my home…
If you are curious how we got here, read the story of our house. It didn’t look like this when we moved in!
This spot is my favorite place to make seasonal changes. I switch out the cushions, pillows, lamp shade and accessories to give it a different look.  Click here to see The Front Porch, Christmas 2012. This is what it looked like around Valentine’s Day, 2013.
Our entry didn’t always look like this. For years we lived with old carpet and dark wallpaper. In the spring of 2012 I decided enough was enough.  It took a few months and some elbow grease but I think the reno turned out great. You can read about my Reinvented Stairway right here.

See how I accomplished this easy bathroom update in one day and for about $100!

Thank you Ann for sharing with us today!

Ann has one of the prettiest home in Blogland, I have been following her for quite awhile. I love the clean simple lines of her home with pops of blue and yellow everywhere. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her sunporch so this tour was a real treat. And I love her deck and yard. Thanks Debbie and Ann!

I just found your blog through From My Front Porch to Yours, and I am your newest follower. Your home is lovely, thanks so much for the tour. I love porches and you are lucky to have two of them. I also loved how you kept your tile counter tops in your kitchen and bathroom. Lovely! I would love for you to stop by my blog sometime at http://homeandlifestyledesign.blogspot.com
    Thanks, Patty

I love how there’s a mix of antiquey elements with the traditional style. I struggle with decorating my home. I love antiques. At one point I was headed in the prim decorating style. I’ve moved since into a home that is brand new with a more “traditional” style. The prim just isn’t going to fit in. Then we bought a new rug for the living room that I swear has just sealed the deal in decor change, but I love all my antique jars, buckets, baskets, and so forth. Thanks for the post.

lovely home and how time has made such a difference. I am not computer or camera savvy , I wish I were.
We live in a 50 yr. old 1100 sq ft. rambler. I retired and saved for the day to remodel. What a difference. My one and only bathrm. was completed 2 yrs. ago and the kitchen 6 months ago. We did the yard over and what a difference. We need a porch in front , new deck, and my office finished. When we did the kitchen we did new appliances, granite counter tops , new cabinets, new flooring and carpets. We painted the L shaped dn.rm., lv.rm. and hall way as well as the kitchen. New lighting. New white doors and trims on all 3 bdrm. and bath.
For a small house , the age, we kept the remodel simple yet warm and new. So it would not be so extreme that the remodel would stand out from what the home looks like in floor plan. When my friend from Georgia visited she said it looked like something out of a magazine. Which made me so please. Great job , thank you for the pictures.

Thanks, Debbie and Ann, for the great tour. Ann, it is beautiful and of course you know my favorite spot is your porch…being the porch lover I am! I’m finding I’m falling for blue and it is shocking me!

    Thanks for the fun tour,
    Helen
