Tattoo Mat

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: May 17, 2011 · Modified: Jul 6, 2013

This is not an earth shattering project. However, I think it is worthy of a blog post, and could potentially save you a few bucks, and perhaps give you some ideas of your own.
I had this plain bamboo rug tucked away in a closet and I thought I could jazz it up a bit.
I saw a few of these tattoo mats on
Home Decorators.com
I thought I would make my own, basically for free, because I already had the mat, stencil, and paint (stencil paint) on hand.
This is an inspiration mat
The plain BEFORE
Simply find your stencil of choice
Tape down on your inexpensive bamboo mat.
Stencil with craft paint.

Paint still wet! I am such a patient person NOT!

And there you have your one of a kind Tattoo Mat.
I chose to write Est. 2006, as that was the year we bought our home here in South Carolina.
So if you have a bamboo rug, and you want to jazz up…GO for it, it was fun!
There are so many stencils out there to choose from.  I just used what I already had. This, I am considering my first practice one.  I learned it is not that easy to stencil on bamboo. I may use a small roller next time instead of a stencil brush….It kind of is blotchy in spots.
This mat is in the front of our bedroom patio door..I do go in and out of that door often. This will hopefully catch the muck I bring in sometimes.

Debbie, that is so cool! I'll have to check out why they are called tattoo mats now.

It turned out so pretty in Turquoise! I have two large rugs like these at the old house that could use some help but you know I only paint every other odd full moon right?

    Oh My Gosh Debbie Sweetie…
These are so darn cute. I love the crown and I especially love the blue on the second one. How cute this would be with our last night and est. for the front door mat. I am going back to Ross and pick up one I saw there. Now that I know what to do with it. So darn cute my friend.

Thank you for the beautiful share. Have a great week. I love seeing your latest. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

WEll, I'll just bet that was a pain in the butt to stencil. I think they are tattoo mats because they do look kind of like easy tattoos~ Nice job! xxoo Diana

Oh very cute mat. I love stenciling. Haven't done much in awhile, thought I might do some stenciling on my daughter's cabinet, but didn't fit the style. Thanks for the inspiration.
