Fried green tomatoes

Ingredients
  

  • 4-6 Medium Green Tomatoes
  • 1 cup of buttermilk well shaken
  • 1 cup of
  • 1 cup of Cornmeal
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Slice tomatoes ΒΌ in size and let "sit a bit". Combine all dry ingredients. Taking each slice, dredged first in dry mix, then the buttermilk, then back through the dry ingredients. Best if fried in a cast iron skillet and oil needs to be very hot. Placing each slice in hot oil fry till crispy brown turning equal browning (about 2 minutes)

Notes

These tasty tomatoes can be served like a BLT. Or even better as shown topped on vidalia onion burger with caramelized onions in a touch of sugar making sure you get that caramel color. FANTASTIC!
